New Liverymen in 2008

The Company are very pleased to welcome the following new Feltmakers in 2008:

 

At the Master's Plough Monday Dinner in January, we welcomed Peter Winfield.

Peter Winfield was born in 1966 and was educated at St George’s College in Weybridge.  Following that, Peter studied Urban Estate Management at the Polytechnic of Wales.  He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1990.  Following 17 years with Jones Land LaSalle, Peter moved to Cushman & Wakefield where he is joint head of Business Space investment.

 

Peter is married to Catherine and they have one daughter.  Peter’s interests include game bird shooting, stalking, swimming, scuba diving and travelling.

 

 

At our Spring Dinner in April, we welcomed Mr William Clegg and Mr Richard Elms.

Bill was brought up in Southend-on Sea where he went to Saint Thomas Moore High School before reading law at Bristol University. He was called to the bar in 1972, took silk in 1991 and is now in practice from his chambers at 2, Bedford Row where he has been Head of Chambers since 1995. He specialises in commercial fraud and international crime and has travelled extensively in the course of his work.

Bill is married to Gay, (as from the 28th June 2008), and they live in Lavenham in Suffolk when not in London. They have four children between them and are just easing the youngest from the nest. Bill has many interests outside the law including cricket (a member of MCC), theatre (a member of the Garrick), wine and sport. He even pushes his body around the squash court occasionally.


Richard Elms

Richard was born in 1947and spent most of his early life in Tottenham.  He was educated at Tottenham County School and then London University, attending Kings College, Chelsea College and the Institute for Education, at various times.  Originally, a Physics teacher, Richard became a Head teacher in 1984; his last school, in Surrey, was a very successful comprehensive school, with just under 2000 pupils.  Since 2004, Richard has worked for the Government on the City Academies programme.  Always actively involved in sport, Richard is a keen skier and regularly watches Football, Rugby and Cricket.  He has been a JP for many years and regularly chairs both Adult and Youth courts.  He lives with his partner, Sam, in Holborn and has two children, now both grown up.
