celebrated at the annual event of the Luton Luncheon, which was instituted by Charles Simeons in the 1970s and continued annually until 2002. Geoffrey Farr restarted the event in 2006 and I was asked to organise the event in 2008.

Invitations are sent to members of the Court and to Liverymen living in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hertfordshire. As usual, we met at the Pavilion, the Masonic centre in Luton. Thirty-nine sat down to the meal including the Master and the three senior Wardens. After Grace given by the Master, we enjoyed a hearty meal of home-made vegetable soup, followed by a main course of chicken, with home-made trifle, finishing the meal with cheese and biscuits, and coffee. The Master spoke briefly after lunch. The atmosphere at these Luton lunches is convivial and gives an opportunity for liverymen to meet away from London, in less formal surroundings than a livery Dinner, and providing an opportunity for good fellowship. We basked in glorious sunshine on February 1, possibly the finest day of the winter. The event was judged a great success and appears now to be re-established as an annual fixture. A surplus of over £150 was paid into the Master's Charity.
