Pairs Cricket Competition This year's event took place on Thursday 24th May. It was held for the first time at Amersham Cricket Club, where the facilities were excellent. Shortly after six o'clock, and on a fine and sunny evening - a rarity for this event - 14 players began to compete for prizes kindly donated by the Master. All players contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable evening either with bat or ball or in the field. The competition was won by Past Master Geoffrey Farr and Liveryman Simon Curtis. A prize for the “Memorable Moment” of the evening was presented by the Upper Warden, Geoffrey Vero, to Renter Warden Nick Heal, for an example of his bowling skills. After play had finished, 26 attendees enjoyed a splendid two course buffet supper in the bar of the pavilion. After match celebrations follow their usual pattern as the Upper and Renter Wardens fight over the last bottle of wine! Family Day at Great Missenden Cricket Club The match against Chiltern CC this year was again held at Great Missenden. It was a 24 over contest, with each player required to bowl a minimum of 2 overs each. The opposition scored 170 runs in their overs, with Past Master Geoffrey Farr and Renter Warden Nick Heal each taking two wickets. However, the Feltmakers could only manage 150 runs in their allotted overs, despite solid contributions late in the game from Peter Simeons and Simon Curtis. The Livery players and supporters quickly dispelled the disappointment of defeat as they adjourned to the local pub after the match. Both events were organised by Peter Simeons, with the assistance of Simon Curtis. Please contact Peter if you would like to participate in the cricket activities next year, either as a player or a spectator, and he will put you on the mailing list. Peter Simeons
